Exploring Our Magnificent Backyard…
Northern Utah’s BOLD and GOLD program gives participants the opportunity to explore the breathtaking mountain vistas of the high Uinta’s.
As well as the opportunity to explore the incredible desert environment of Capitol Reef!
This year we have added opportunities for younger participants to attend an introduction to backpacking, rock climbing, or adventure camp!
Just 90 minutes away from Salt Lake’s busy streets, participants have the opportunity to truly unplug and connect with the mountains on our expeditions. Above and beyond the beauty of their natural surroundings, participants will also make lifelong friends, learn invaluable camping and interpersonal skills, and gain confidence in their abilities to take on new challenges.
In addition to acquiring the technical skills related to backpacking, our focus is on leadership development and facilitating conversations around identity and inclusion.
All trips start and end at YMCA Camp Mill Hollow outside Kamas, Utah. Parents/Guardians can choose to drop youth off at Mill Hollow or at pick-up locations in Salt Lake.
We offer co-ed backpacking trips designed for teens ages 14 to 17. All our trips are five days in length. Some take place in the beautiful Uinta National Forest in Utah. The others take place in the deserts of Capitol Reef.
