Explore, Learn, and Grow in Northern California

Through the YMCA of San Francisco’s BOLD & GOLD Program, teens spend 5-10 days backpacking, developing outdoor and leadership skills, and exploring some of California’s most beautiful places, including Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, and Point Reyes.

Located in the redwoods of La Honda, California, YMCA Camp Jones Gulch is a residential camp, conference, and retreat center and host to two outdoor education programs. Through our BOLD & GOLD program, diverse groups of teens explore some of the most beautiful places in California, develop leadership skills, and overcome physical and emotional challenges all while carrying everything they need on their backs.

We’ll get ready as a team.

All of our BOLD & GOLD trips begin with an overnight on-site. After a night of getting to know each other, learning some skills, preparing our packs, and bonding as a team, we set off on our adventure in the wilderness.

Transportation is easy.

For most of our programs, participants may register for our bus service to and from camp from several cities throughout the Bay Area, including San Francisco, Richmond, Berkeley, and San Mateo.
